Welcome to Santiago Middle School Registration!

We look forward to meeting new students and parents as we begin our journey together through middle school.

If you have already registered for Santiago, please follow the directions below:

Please view our Parent Data Confirmation letter in English or Spanish for a brief overview of parent portal and our online registration. When done, please proceed to Aeries Parent Portal to begin your student's online registration.

If you need assistance please call (714) 997-6366 or visit our campus and our office staff will be available to help with online registration.

While completing online registration, please print out the following forms. Students and parents/guardians must bring these to Santiago's campus the day of registration:

  1. Signed emergency card with current contact information.
  2. Signed over-the-counter medication form.
  3. Signed acceptable use policy.
  4. Signed bring your own device form.

If your student has not yet enrolled at Santiago for the 2018-2019 school year, please bring the following to our registrar, Mrs.Keefe, prior to registration day: 

Proof of birth: We accept either U.S. or non-U.S. birth certificates. We accept all students regardless of immigration status.
Proofs of residence - must show name and address
Immunization records
School records
California Standards Tests (CSTs) or other standardized test results

Once you have established your Parent Portal account, you have the choice of completing your DATA CONFIRMATION at home or using our computers here at Santiago where our office staff will be available to help you.

Registration for Students Who are NEW AND NEVER ATTENDED School at OUSD

Aeries Air allows online enrollment for new students to our school district. Information about the student such as emergency contacts, medical and home language information will be collected.  Your first step will be to enroll with Orange Unified School District using Aeries Air.  Once you are finished adding your information, you will need to bring the completed Enrollment Confirmation documents and the other required items to our school and meet with the Registrar to finish your student's registration.

STEP 1:

PARENTS: Please read the instructions below BEFORE you begin to enroll online using Aeries Air.

Aeries Air Online Enrollment is the first step to enrolling your child in OUSD. Upon completion of your online enrollment, you will need to call (714) 997-5683 and speak with our Registrar, Mrs. Keefe. 

Our office is open weekdays (except during school holidays/vacations) from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

STEP 2:

In order to complete your student's registration as smoothly as possible, you will need to come to Santiago with the required items listed below in order to complete the registration process.  Once ALL the REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION has been provided to the Registrar at Santiago, only then will registration be completed.   


DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION
You MUST bring the following documents AFTER you have created a New Enrollment Account with Aeries Air:

  • Printed and Signed Copy of Your Online Enrollment Confirmation:  Including the printed copy of the Home Language Survey, Over-the-Counter Medicine Authorization from the online confirmation page.
  • Photo ID: Only PARENTS or COURT APPOINTED GUARDIANS can enroll a student.
  • Birth Certificate: When enrolling your child, you must use his/her legal name. Proof of birth: We accept either U.S. or non-U.S. birth certificates. We accept all students regardless of immigration status.
  • Proof of Residence: Please provide (2) proofs of residence. Bills that are acceptable are: escrow papers, rental agreement, water bill, electric bill, waste management bill, etc. Bills cannot be more than 30 days old.
  • Proof of Required Immunizations: California law states that immunization record MUST show proof of TDap shot.
    SB277 - Required Vaccinations: On June 30, 2015, Governor Brown signed a new immunization Bill, Senate Bill (SB) 277. This law took effect on July 1, 2016 and requires that ALL children in California be fully immunized to attend public or private school. "Fully immunized" includes the (10) required vaccinations currently required by the state.
  • Withdrawal Papers/Transcripts/Grades: Please bring previous school withdrawal papers along with grades/transcripts.
  • Standardized Test Results: Current copy for class placement.
  • Special Ed Documents: Applies only to students with an IEP or 504. Please bring latest copy of IEP.
  • Honors/GATE Qualification: Proof that your student was identified as Honors/GATE the previous school district.
  • Court Documents (when applicable): Custody Papers, Restraining Orders, Guardianship

When you come in to finish your registration, the Registrar will review all your information for accuracy and will have you sign any remaining documents to finalize your student's enrollment.  REMEMBER...You must do BOTH STEPS (online enrollment AND present documents at school) to enroll your student.

Registration for Students Who have PREVIOUSLY ATTENDED
 School at OUSD and ARE RETURNING BACK to OUSD. 

 

STEP 1:

PARENTS: Please read the instructions below to enroll your student back to OUSD.

  • PLEASE CALL OR VISIT our office and speak with our Registrar. Our phone number is: (714) 997-5683.  Our office is open weekdays (except during school holidays/vacations) from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
     
  • If your student has previously attended school at OUSD in the past, DO NOT USE AERIES AIR TO ENROLL YOUR STUDENT.
    You MUST call or visit our registrar
     to begin the registration process.
     
  • To register at Santiago, you must be residing within our attendance boundary area and you must provide (2) proofs of residence. 
     
  • You will need an Email Account to access a Parent Portal Account.  When you visit our office to enroll your student, our Registrar will give you information about Parent Portal so you can complete your registration online.

After you have submitted ALL the required documents above, you will need to complete DATA CONFIRMATION, verify your student's emergency contact and health information using your Parent Portal Account.  The Registrar will help you establish a Parent Portal account so you can complete your registration online.  You have the choice of completing your DATA CONFIRMATION at home or using our computer here at school.

Next, you will login to your Parent Portal account and complete your Data Confirmation. You will need to print and sign a copy of the following:

  • Emergency Card
  • Home Language Survey
  • Over-the-Counter Products Authorization
  • Prescription Medication Authorization (if applicable)
  • Native American Program (if applicable)

Is a 6th Grader and CURRENTLY ATTENDING Our Feeder Schools

If your student is a 6th grader attending one of our feeder schools (Chapman Hills Elementary, Esplanade Elementary, Jordan Elementary, La Veta Elementary, Linda Vista Elementary, Panorama Elementary, Prospect Elementary) AND is living within Santiago's attendance boundaries, your student will receive enrollment information from your school.  Our counselor will review the PRE-ENROLLMENT AND REGISTRATION process with your future 7th grader. Santiago will also host two 6th Grade Parent Information Nights on Tuesday, February 27 at 6pm and Tuesday, March 6 at 6pm to review the process with parents as well.

Aeries Air is ONLY for students who are NEW to OUSD and have NEVER attended school in our district.

PLEASE NOTE Students who DO NOT LIVE within the Santiago boundary area will have to submit a request for OPEN ENROLLMENT.  Please see information below regarding Open Enrollment.  

 

REQUESTING OPEN ENROLLMENT

OPEN ENROLLMENT - Students Residing Within OUSD

If your student is currently attending school in OUSD but you are not residing within Santiago's boundary area, you may apply for Open Enrollment.  Open Enrollment is granted based on space availability.  Open Enrollment Request Forms will be available and accepted during the designated Open Enrollment Period. Requests submitted after the enrollment period will be placed on a wait list. 

This year, Open Enrollment will take place from
March 5, 2018 to March 16, 2018.

Santiago will hold a lottery shortly after the close of the Open Enrollment Period and parents will be notified of their lottery number.  The student selection process shall be random and unbiased and in accordance with the requirements of California Education Code 35160.5.  If you have any questions, please contact the Registrar at (714) 997-5683.

REQUESTING an INTERDISTRICT TRANSFER

Please contact Santiago Middle School's front office personnel for interdistrict transfer information.

 

REQUESTING TO WITHDRAW

If you are planning to leave Santiago and attend another school, a parent or legal guardian MUST come into our office and meet with the registrar to withdraw a student from school.  A withdrawal form will be signed by all the student's teachers, librarian, and the registrar.  The registrar will provide all necessary paperwork for enrollment at the next school.  The registrar should be notified at least (1) day prior to a withdrawal.
