Santiago Student Start-Up

2023-2024

Please take a few minutes to review and complete the following steps to expedite your experience on registration day!  Let's get started:

Step 1 - For students NEW to Santiago: Please make sure your updated immunizations card (inclusive of the 7th grade Tdap) AND all required registration paperwork is turned in to the Santiago Front Office.

Step 2 - Please don't forget to complete your data confirmation through your parent portal account before coming to registration, this will be a great help and will expedite your registration time.

ALL Santanas: Data confirmation should be completed. Directions for completing Data Confirmation:

NOTE: It is NOT necessary to print anything from Data Confirmation once you SUBMIT. Santiago will print confirmation pages.

Please be ready to update/add any contact information, review your child's health history, and read and review all relevant documents. If you have any issues or difficulty, please contact the office for additional support at 714-997-6366. 

Step 3: ALL Santanas: The final step of Santiago Student Start-Up happens on campus. Please plan to visit Santiago to make final preparations for the first day of school.

Chromebooks are provided to all Santiago students free of charge, but are the property of Santiago Charter Middle School (unless the device is purchased for students). Santiago asks all parents to take financial responsibility for the loaner Chromebook while in their child's possession. Santiago offers optional insurance coverage to parents who wish to purchase it ($50) to protect the device from damage, loss, or theft while being used by their child.

47605(D) PARAGRAPH 4

(4) (A) A charter school shall not discourage a pupil from enrolling or seeking to enroll in the charter school for any reason, including, but not limited to, academic performance of the pupil or because the pupil exhibits any of the characteristics described in clause (iii) of subparagraph (B) of paragraph (2).

(B) A charter school shall not request a pupil’s records or require a parent, guardian, or pupil to submit the pupil’s records to the charter school before enrollment.

(C) A charter school shall not encourage a pupil currently attending the charter school to disenroll from the charter school or transfer to another school for any reason, including, but not limited to, academic performance of the pupil or because the pupil exhibits any of the characteristics described in clause (iii) of subparagraph (B) of paragraph (2). This subparagraph shall not apply to actions taken by a charter school pursuant to the procedures described in subparagraph (J) of paragraph (5) of subdivision (b).

(D) The department shall develop a notice of the requirements of this paragraph. This notice shall be posted on a charter school’s internet website. A charter school shall provide a parent or guardian, or a pupil if the pupil is 18 years of age or older, a copy of this notice at all of the following times:

             (i) When a parent, guardian, or pupil inquires about enrollment.

             (ii) Before conducting an enrollment lottery.

             (iii) Before disenrollment of a pupil.

(E) (i) A person who suspects that a charter school has violated this paragraph may file a complaint with the chartering authority.

             (ii) The department shall develop a template to be used for filing complaints pursuant to clause (i).
